Estel Croley

Estel Croley age 84 of Morristown, Tenn., formerly of Williamsburg, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at the Heritage Center in Morristown. He was the son of the late John Will Croley and Samantha Elizabeth McKeehan Croley. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Croley; a daughter, Sherry Croley; brothers, Rev. L.B. Croley, Elmer O. Croley and infant Edd Croley; sisters, Euviva Scott and infant Edna Croley. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and Morristown Senior Citizens, he was a coach for Little League for thirteen years and one of the first inductees of the Morristown Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Sue Croley; four sons, Lonnie (Barbara Jo) Croley, Rodney D. (Laura) Croley, Jerry (Carol) Croley and Estel “Bimbo” (Elaine) Croley; two daughters, Alice (Danny) Shockley and Sue (Larry) Shockley; one step-son, Steve (Hazel) Ray; one step-daughter, Lisa Owens; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charlie Croley of Bandera, Texas, Don Croley of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ralph Croley of Norwood, Ohio; four sisters, Roberta Rhodes of Walden, Ky., Beulah Lake of Goldens Creek Community, Barbourville, Ky., Pauline Hegedus of Cincinnati, Ohio and Wilma McFarland of Milford, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at the Mayes Family Services in Morristown, Tenn.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Morristown, Tenn. with the Rev. Kester Green and Rev. James Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Opal Marie Lawson

Opal Marie Lawson, of Skaggs Branch Road, Williamsburg, Ky., departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at her home in Williamsburg, Ky. She was 90 years, two months and 13 days of age. She was born on Aug. 10, 1918 in Whitley County, Ky. to the late, George and Nannie (Lawson) Bennett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cody Bill Lawson; a daughter, Geneva “Doll” Lawson; two sons, Eugene Lawson and Orie “Cat” Lawson; grandsons, Mike and Scott Lawson; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Sue Lawson, Nancy Lawson and Nancy Sue Lawson; and a son-in-law, Fred Daugherty.

She is survived by her daughter, Eula Lawson Daugherty of Williamsburg, Ky.; seven sons, Elbert “Sack” Lawson of Jellico, Ky., Arthur “Art” Lawson and his wife Jane of Williamsburg, Ky., Floyd Lawson of Williamsburg, Ky., Olan Lawson and his wife Alice of Jellico, Tenn., Ray Lawson of Williamsburg, Ky., Jimmy Lawson of Williamsburg, Ky. and Danny Lawson and his wife Janet of Williamsburg, Ky.; 25 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008 at Croley Funeral Home.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Horace Partin and Rev. Ewell “Jamup” Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Doll Lawson Cemetery in the Fairview Community, Williamsburg, Ky.

Lloyd Harold Fulton

Lloyd Harold Fulton of Highway 92 East, Siler, Ky., departed this life on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at his home in Siler, Ky. He was 79 years, three months and four days of age. He was born in Canton, Ohio on July 27, 1929 to the late Harold John and Pearl Jay Fulton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dorcie Fulton; a sister, Nancy Jay; two brothers-in-law, Earl Goodin and E.C. Lee; and a sister-in-law, Betty Smith. Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Joie (Reynolds) Fulton of Siler, Ky.; four daughters, Dyan Smith and husband Dan of Marion, Ohio, Lucille Bonness of Marion, Ohio, Lucinda Thomas of Petersburg, Ind. and Deborah Fulton of Siler, Ky.; four sons, Lloyd H. Fulton II and his wife Nancy of Crestline, Ohio, Larry Fulton and his wife Victoria of Crestline, Ohio, William Fulton and his wife Teresa of Rockholds, Ky. and John Fulton and his wife Crystal of Siler, Ky.; 37 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, William “Bill” Waltenbaugh of Canton, Ohio; two sisters, Leona Mator and her husband Richard of Pittsburg, Pa. and Audrey Corlew and her husband John of Valley, Ala.; his mother-in-law, Vinna Reynolds of Siler, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Jessie Hurst and her husband Clarence of Siler, Ky., Golda Lee of Crestline, Ohio and Thelma Taylor and her husband John of Crestline, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Brian Smith of Siler, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation was after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at the Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Fulton lied-in-state at Big Poplar Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour..

The funeral service was at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at the Big Poplar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Partin, Rev. George Peace and Rev. Arnold Petrey officiating. Burial followed in the Peace Cemetery in Siler, Ky. Military Graveside Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post 88, Corbin, Ky.

Jason Browning, Chris Saylor, Kyle Gray, Johnny Tiller, John Fulton and Mark Gibbs served as pallbearers.

Geneva Croley Rains

Geneva Croley Rains, of Montgomery, Ohio; formerly of Gatliff, Ky., departed this life on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 at the Montgomery Care Center in Montgomery, Ohio. She was 87 years, seven months and 25 days of age. She was born on March 6, 1921 in Whitley County, Ky. to the late, George and Louisa (Harp) Croley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennie W. Rains. Geneva was a member of Mission Baptist Church in Blue Ash, Ohio.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise Lambdin and her husband William of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sons, Donald Lynn Rains and his wife Emma of Norwood, Ohio, Dennie Dexter Rains and his wife Beverly of Mt. Carmel, Ohio, Danny Lloyd Edward Rains of Norwood, Ohio, Rev. William Roland Rains and his wife Faye of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, George Larry Rains and his wife Fran of Carthage, Ohio and Gerald Keith Rains of Norwood, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at Croley Funeral Home.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Rains officiating. Burial followed in the Powers Cemetery at Nevisdale, in Williamsburg, Ky.

Sharon Lynn Gibson Ballard

Sharon Lynn Gibson Ballard, age 44, of Lafollette, Tenn., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Claiborne County Hospital. She was born June 28, 1964 in Baltimore, Md.

She is preceded in death by her father, Winford Gibson and daughter, Crystal Rose Ballard.

She is survived by her mother, Gloria Jean Gibson Jenkins; husband, Arthur Edward Ballard; fiance, Ronnie Wilson; three sons, Edward Gibson and wife Angela and their children, Krytal, Elisa, and Timothy all of Lafollette, Tenn., Jessie Ballard of Lafollette, Tenn. and Jeremy Ballard and wife Danielle and their children, Bryson and Aliea; two sisters, Emma Sparks and husband Chester of Lafollette, Tenn. and Teresa Webb and husband Charles of Lafollette, Tenn.; one brother, Tommy Gibson and wife Bobbie of Clairfield, Tenn.; and a host of friends and family to mourn her passing.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 with funeral services at 8 p.m. in the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Waldroop officiating. Burial followed in the Rogerston Cemetery.

Sherri Lavada Adkins

Sherri Lavada Adkins, of Youngs Chapel Road, Corbin, Ky., departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Ky. She was 36 years, 11 months and five days of age. She was born on Nov. 27, 1971 in Jellico, Tenn. to Coy Lee Cox, Sr. and Thelma Jo Cox. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister. Sherri attended Mt. Ash Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, David Adkins of Corbin, Ky.; four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Adkins, Kaprina Nicole Adkins, Agnes Michelle Kellegg and Crystal Marie Adkins all of Corbin, Ky.; her mother, Thelma Jo Cox Duncan of Williamsburg, Ky.; three brothers, Coy Lee Cox, Jr. and his wife Donna of Williamsburg, Ky., Barney Edward Cox and his wife Betty Jane of Lafollette, Tenn. and Travis Dean Douglas of Williamsburg, Ky.; two sisters, Phyllis Jean Cox of Williamsburg, Ky. and Maudie Maria Christian of Jellico, Tenn.; her mother-in-law, Nannie Adkins of Williamsburg, Ky.; several nieces and nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at Croley Funeral Home.

John Doby

John T. Doby, 88, of Corbin, Ky., passed away Nov. 1, 2008.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the O’Neil Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Eckert as the principal speaker. Entombment will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at O’Neil Funeral Home.
