A local man died Friday afternoon following a collision on Old Hwy. 25 (KY 1232) near the entrance to Tri-County Country Club.

According to police witnesses at the scene, 21-year-old Nathaniel Roberts was riding his Yamaha motorcycle toward Corbin on the roadway when he collided with a 2004 Toyota Camry drive by 17-year-old Lindsey Ingle, of Corbin.

Ingle was apparently turning left into the country club's main entrance when the accident happened. Roberts hit the side of the car and was thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway. He suffered massive, fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His helmet was discovered in a nearby ditch line, but according to Kentucky State Police he was not wearing it at the time of the crash. Witnesses said he did have a helmet on, but that it was knocked off during the crash.

Ingle suffered only minor injuries.

A friend at the scene said Roberts had just left his body shop where they both worked together.

Roberts was apparently returning home to eat dinner with his pregnant wife and child. Roberts was in good physical health just moments before the accident and was not under the influence of any intoxicants, his friend said.

"He never did that sort of thing. He was clean. He was a good guy."

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. Officer Wendell Hunter with the Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement Division investigated.
