A Lexington woman remains incarcerated in the Whitley County Detention Center after allegedly shoplifting from the Williamsburg Walmart and leading police on a vehicle pursuit that reached a speed of 100 mph before ending just inside Tennessee.
University of the Cumberlands recently recognized five alumni who have made significant contributions in the field of education. The awards for, “…dedication and commitment to motivate young people to be better citizens who appreciate the ethical values and principles that provide the foundation for 21st century leadership,” were presented at a dinner hosted by Kappa Delta Phi honor society and the Kentucky Education Association Student Program (KEASP).
Students from fifteen schools gathered at University of the Cumberlands on Friday, April 17, for the annual High School Mathematics Contest. The competition, sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and Physics, seeks to promote studies in these areas and to prepare students for careers in the fields of mathematics, physics, and engineering. Students competed in six areas of exams: algebra I, algebra II, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus and cooperative group.
