W Thelma BrewerThelma S. Brewer, 83, of Corbin passed away on Monday August 22, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Doyle Brewer on June 5, 2016. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Topolsky; parents, Robert Scalf and Judith Siler Scalf; and by her Brothers, Billy Scalf and Howard Scalf.

Thelma was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Corbin where she was involved in many church and ladies activities. Thelma was also a member of the Corbin Kiwanis Club. Thelma began working at the early age of 14 as a dishwasher at the former Yeary’s Restaurant before going on to work at both Hippodrome and Viv Theaters in Corbin. She was a co-owner of the Brewer’s Greenhouse and worked at Elicon Factory. Thelma was a long time greeter at Kmart in Corbin where she worked for over 18 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Brewer Lanham (Randy); grandchildren, Kris Hubbard (Gypsy), Anna Langdon (Norm), Desi Lanham (Jerell), Colton Lanham (Natalie), and Crimson Duvall (George); fifteen great grandchildren; and by her sisters, June White and Norma Akers.

Funeral service for Thelma Brewer were held Thursday August 25,  at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Frost officiating.

Burial followed in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky.
