A Corbin woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly beating a man severely enough that he had to be airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Holly A. Mills, 34, is facing one count of second-degree assault stemming from the July 8 incident during which Danny Perry stated that he was punch, kicked scratched and then pushed to the ground and then beat with the broom handle as he laid on the floor.
As a result, Perry stated in the complaint filed against Mills that he suffered a brain bleed and broken ribs.
Perry filed the complaint on July 13 and an arrest warrant was issued.
Corbin Police Officer Justin Walker served the warrant on Mills Wednesday night.
Mills pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday in a video arraignment at the Whitley County Detention Center.
She is scheduled to appear in Whitley District Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is probable cause to present the case to a Whitley County grand jury.
Mills is being held in jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
Under Kentucky law, second-degree assault is a class C felony carrying a potential prison sentence of five to ten years.
