Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter gets spay and neuter grant

Date:

Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter is pleased to have received a grant from Best Friends Animal Society to conduct Low Cost spay and neuters for helping to reduce the number of animals entering Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter.

“This grant means that we can add this low-cost spay/neuter project to our efforts this year to decrease the number of unwanted dogs and cats entering our local shelter,” said Deanna Myers. “Our goal is to perform 277 spay/neuter operations over the next year. We appreciate the support of Best Friends to make this low cost spay and neuter program possible.”

Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter is an active partner in Best Friends No More Homeless Pets® Network which offers help and support to animal rescue groups and shelters that save lives in their communities.

“Every day some 9,000 animals are killed in our nation’s shelters simply because they don’t have a home. When you choose to adopt your next pet you are becoming part of the solution right here in our community,” said Myers. “That’s why we are proud to partner with Best Friends. We really believe together we can save them all.”

The Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter has been a part of Knox, Whitley, McCreary and Clay Counties for many years now. On an average we see over 6000 animals a yea. Even though we try very hard to find homes or rescue, we cannot do this alone. We need the support of the communities we serve, starting with spaying and neutering the animals in our communities.
