AG: Whitley Co. Library violated open records law

The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office has found the Whitley County Public Library violated Kentucky law when it failed to respond to an open records request regarding the meeting minutes and documentation concerning employee complaints against the Corbin Public Library Board in a timely manner.

“Whitley County Public Library Board violated KRS 61.880(1) in failing to issue a written response within three business days of receiving the request; the Board also subverted the intent of the Open Records Act within meaning of KRS 61.880(4) in failing to provide timely access to all existing documents responsive to request, after the requesters gave clarifications where necessary, as it did not satisfy the requirements of KRS 61.872(5),” the summary of the ruling stated.
