Ancil E. Hill, 82, of Portage, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017.

He was born on August 6, 1934 in Williamsburg, to the late Ancil and Grace Hill.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Ancil was employed as a Mobile Equipment Mechanic at US Steel, and retired in 1987. After his retirement, he worked as a truckdriver for Howell Tractor for over ten years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dorman Hill; sisters, Beulah Tackett, June Johnson, Ruth Sullivan, Helen Sullivan.

Ancil is survived by his beloved wife, Verna K. Boyd Hill; sons, Thomas Hill, Ted Hill; daughter, Deborah (Paul) Glab; grandchildren, Jasmine Glab, Jade Glab, Paul (Ashley Peterson) Glab, Lorna Hill, Aleela Hill; great grandchildren, Hayden Glab and Nicolli Hill-Perez; special granddog, Logan.

The funeral was held Friday, February 24, at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel with Rev. Wayne Jocelyn officiating.

He was laid to rest at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valparaiso.
