Annual Christmas Open House event set for this Sunday in downtown Corbin

Date:

Santa Claus will be making a visit to downtown Sunday afternoon for the Corbin Christmas Open House.

The Christmas Open House will take place from 1 – 5 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Nibroc Park.

“I know Santa will be there. A lot of our downtown businesses will be open for business. It is a shop local event encouraging people to get out to our restaurants and shop at all of our unique businesses and things we have on Main Street,” said Corbin Tourism Director Emily Roberts.

The Whitley County Farmer’s Market will also be set up at the Hometown Bank Farmer’s Market Pavillion.

There will be activities for children.

The Christmas Open House was one of several holiday activities and events that the Corbin City Commission discussed during its regular monthly meeting Monday.

Corbin City Manager Scott Williamson said that the city is trying to start a new tradition, and the Dec. 6 Corbin Christmas Parade will be started with a shot from the canon, which is fired during Corbin High School home football games.

Line-up will start at 6 p.m. and the parade will start at 7 p.m.

There is a registration form for the Corbin Christmas Parade that is located on the Downtown Corbin Facebook page.

The Evergreen Artisan Market will take place on Dec. 5 from 5 – 10 p.m. and on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. at Harvey’s on Main, which is located at 115 South Main Street.

Mayor Suzie Razmus noted there will be various artisan shopping.

Commissioner John Baker added there will also be food.
