Cash Express coat, toy, food drive fills police cruiser, fire truck

Date:

A used coat and toy drive and a drive for non-perishable canned goods that was conducted by the Williamsburg Cash Express filled up the police cruiser of Third-District Constable Dorman Patrick Jr. and one fire truck Monday.

Third-District Constable Dorman Patrick Jr., and members of the Patterson Creek and Emlyn volunteer fire departments were on hand Monday for a coat, food and toy drive sponsored by Cash Express in Williamsburg.

Cash Express collected eight to 10 bags of brand new toys during Monday’s drive in addition to about 20 bags of clothing and other miscellaneous items.

Since mid-October, the store has collected 137 used coats that Williamsburg Dry Cleaners has cleaned free of charge.

Volunteers with Emlyn and Patterson Creek volunteer fire departments were on hand Monday to assist with the drive.

Cash Express will continue accepting items for the drive through Dec. 15 at its store located inside the Cumberland Regional Mall in Williamsburg.
