A Corbin man, who initially survived after being shot in the head with a .357 pistol early Sunday morning, has died.
Timothy Seth Pennington died Thursday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to the Corbin Police Department.
Corbin Police Lt. Coy Wilson, who is the investigating officer, said that the attempted murder charge against the couple allegedly responsible for Pennington's shooting would be upgraded to murder.
Melissa M. Summers, 43, of Corbin, and Adam R. Alloway, 37, of London, were arrested early Monday morning in connection with Pennington's shooting, and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

A West Virginia man is facing stalking and other charges after being arrested outside a Corbin area apartment complex Sunday evening for allegedly trying to lure a local juvenile girl from her residence.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Drew Wilson arrested Brian Ash, 21, of Saint Albans, charging him with first-degree stalking, third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal trespassing, endangering the welfare of a minor, distributing tobacco and vape products to minors, and numerous traffic violations, according to a KSP release.

An additional 250 manufacturing jobs will be coming to Williamsburg as Bridgestone Americas announced a $51 million expansion of the Firestone Industrial Products plant on Thursday.
The new jobs will be at the plant off of U.S. 25W that currently employs more than 500 people making air springs.

A Corbin woman is facing homicide and DUI charges following a fatal crash in Clay County Wednesday afternoon.
About 4:20 p.m., Kentucky State Police were notified by Clay County 911 about a single vehicle injury accident on KY 149 in the Manchester area of Clay County, which resulted in one fatality.
The initial investigation indicated that Jenna R. Hubbs, 27, of Corbin, was operating a 2019 Polaris Razor ATV side-by-side, which was traveling northeast on Big Creek Road in the Manchester community, according to a KSP release.
“Mrs. Hubbs lost control of her vehicle; the vehicle left the roadway, and over turned,” KSP stated in the release.

The Corbin High School Cheerleaders finished fifth among the nine schools that competed Friday in the state cheerleading championship, all-girls medium division.
Corbin finished the competition with a score of 81.30.
Pulaski County took home the title with a score of 92.50.
The Corbin High School Cheerleaders will take to the mat in the state competition at 3 p.m.
The squad, which is competing against Ryle, South Oldham, Pulaski County, Cooper, Russell, Butler, and Henry County in the All-Girls Medium Division, will be the fifth of nine groups to compete.
Corbin’s performance is scheduled to begin at 3:24 at George Rogers Clark High School.

The case against a Corbin man, who is accused of attempting to kidnap a three-year-old and then trying to buy the child from its grandparents, will be moving to federal court.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Ronnie L. Helton, 73, on Thursday.
According to the indictment, Helton is accused of using a means, facility, and instrumentality of interstate commerce, specifically at red Pontiac sedan, in the furtherance of the commission of the crime of attempted kidnapping.
Helton faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if found guilty.

An accident involving a tractor, car and pickup truck left one person injured Wednesday morning.
Corbin Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of US 25 E and the Corbin Bypass at 9:18 a.m.
The injured party was taken to the hospital via ambulance, but the injuries did not appear to be life threatening, said Corbin Fire Department Battalion Chief Chad Jackson.
No extrication was required.
There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
Along with Corbin Fire Department, Corbin Police Department and Knox County Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
