Veterans enjoy program at Corbin Senior Citizens Center

Several local veterans gathered at the Corbin Senior Citizens Center to attend a program in their honor given by Ms. Beverly Faulkner who is the Senior Citizens Director. Ms. Faulkner made the veterans feel special by giving them cards, a cake and special gifts. There were also prize gifts given by board member, Mr. Mike Pawula. Disabled Veteran operates Handlebar Nate’s food cart

When most people think of gourmet or haute food, hot dogs usually aren’t the first things that come to mind. However, trained chef and Army veteran Nathan Stepek, and wife Rachel, started Handlebar Nate’s Food Cart on a snowy day in April 2018 and they are changing the way locals around southeastern Kentucky view hot dogs and lunch. Colonel Players finish second, head to KY Theatre Association State Competition

The Whitley County High School drama program is headed to the Kentucky Theatre Association State Competition later this month. The Colonel Players finished second Saturday during the East Region competition, which was held at Madison Southern High School. “I am an extremely proud theatre director. This cast did an amazing job and continues to work diligently to bring a wonderful story to life. Pistol shooting competition scheduled to help raise funds for local Toys for Tots campaign

Center Target Firearms and Indoor Range, will host a Pistol Shooting Competition to serve as a fund raiser for the Whitley, Knox and Laurel County’s Toys for Tots Campaign. All proceeds will benefit the campaign. Everyone who goes to Center Target between now and Christmas are asked to bring a donation of any toy. Collection boxes will be on-site. The shooting competition is open to everyone. Competitors may fire their own gun, or rent one from the range. WC Colonel Players announce upcoming performance of ‘The Anatomy of Gray’

The Whitley County Colonel Players will perform The Anatomy of Gray, written by Jim Leonard Jr., produced by Samuel French and directed by David Sweet. The performance will take place on November 1 and 2, at the Whitley High School Cafeteria at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5. “We have been working on this show for several weeks,” Sweet said. “This show has everything for an audience: it’s happy, it’s sad, it has a deeper message. Sav-Rite Home Care celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness with Open House

It was a busy day Friday, October 26, at Sav-Rite Home Care as they celebrated the 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day in addition to having an open house for their new facility located at 14141 N US 25E, Corbin. Lynn Camp alum to compete in ‘The Voice on Snapchat’

Courtney Mason, a 2017 graduate from Lynn Camp High School and Corbin native, will soon travel to Los Angeles, Ca. for a competition. Not just any competition, either, but “The Voice on Snapchat”, a nationally known talent search show. According to Mason, “The Voice on Snapchat” is just like the televised version of “The Voice”, it’s simply on a different platform and offers slightly different prizes to the winner. Dalton Dailey, of Berea, formerly of Rockholds, got his start to fame by posting videos on Facebook and gathering thumbs up, likes and loves from friends and family. His stardom has skyrocketed from there. The energetic 7-year-old second grader’s life changed August 11 when his mother, Emily Dailey, videotaped him doing demolition work, hammering tile surrounding his bathtub (during the family’s remodel) while dancing and lip synching to Justin Timberlake’s hit single “SexyBack”. WHS Band takes Grand Champion award for second time in 2018 season

Photos submitted.   This past Saturday the Williamsburg High School (WHS) Band traveled to Walden Ridge Band Festival held at Harriman High School in Harriman, Tennessee and competed in the Class AA against nine other bands. The WHS Band won 1st Place in Percussion, 1st Place Band and Grand Champions in Class AA. The band performed the Cycles of Life, Directed by Mr. Zachary Shannon. This competition is the 2nd time the WHS Band has received Grand Champions during the 2018 Marching Band Season.
