With a 17-10 victory over Whitley County Wednesday evening, the Corbin Redhounds baseball team won their first 13th Region championship title since the 2005 season. At Whitley County High School, the Corbin Redhounds topped Knox Central 4-0 to advance to Wednesday's regional championship game with an overall record of 23 wins and 12 losses. Junior Chase Estep struck out six Panther batters in the win while teammate Ben Phillips went two-for-three at the plate with two RBIs. For the second night in a row, the Corbin Redhounds squared off against the Whitley County Colonels while the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets faced the South Laurel Cardinals. Regular season district play opened up Tuesday for area high school baseball teams, with the Whitley County Colonels hosting the Corbin Redhounds and the South Laurel Cardinals hosting the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets. The baseball Colonels recently went 4-0 during a Spring Break trip to play in the 2018 Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC.
