A Corbin woman is facing DUI and drug trafficking charges after Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly discovered her sitting inside her vehicle at an intersection as the traffic light cycled multiple times Saturday morning.
Deputies arrested 32-year-old Stephanie R. Hubbs at the intersection of U.S. 25E and U.S. 25W in north Corbin.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were called to the scene about 8 a.m. in response to a complaint that a white Saturn was stopped at the green light for an extended period.
“When Deputy (Brad) Mink arrived at the scene the vehicle was still sitting stopped at the traffic light there,” Acciardo stated.
Through the course of an investigation, Acciardo stated that Mink determine that the driver, identified as Hubbs, was under the influence, adding that deputies recovered a glass pipe and approximately one ounce of crystal methamphetamine that Hubbs had in her possession.
Hubbs was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – methamphetamine, instructional permit violations, possession of drug paraphernalia and other traffic violations.
Hubbs was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Facility where she is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.
