Corbin man arrested after domestic dispute

Date:

A Corbin man was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly fleeing the scene of a domestic dispute.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 36-year-old Ernest Higbee on charges of fourth-degree assault and second-degree fleeing or evading police – on foot.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Deputy Josh Scott responded to the domestic violence call on Level Green Road about 12:30 p.m.

Scott spoke with the alleged victim who advised that the suspect, later identified as Higbee, had ran out the back door.

“Deputy Scott located the suspect nearby walking down the roadway and when the suspect saw Deputy Scott, he fled attempting to hide behind an out building,” Acciardo stated.

In addition to the charges, Higbee was served with a Knox County bench warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on a charge of theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500 – shoplifting.
