Corbin man seriously injured after swerving to avoid dog

A single-vehicle accident on Hwy. 26 near Faber Sunday afternoon sent a Corbin man to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.
Roscoe Noe, of Hwy. 1223 in Corbin, was injured when the truck he was driving left the road after he allegedly tried to avoid a dog in his path as he traveled north. As he avoided the dog, the truck went over an embankment approximately 10-15 feet down, but that was apparently not what injured him.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Alan Onkst said after Noe’s truck came to rest on a utility pole, he jumped out when it began rolling backwards.
“Apparently, he went off the road and then hit the pole, but that’s not what hurt him,” Onkst said. “As the truck came to rest, someone turned the ignition off and as it started rolling down the hill, the gentleman jumped out and that’s when he was injured.”
An unidentified witness gave a similar account of the accident as well.
“He was coming north and tried not to hit a dog and when he did, he went over the bank,” the man said. “He circled in the field and tried to come back up the hill and when he did, he slid over and I think that’s when he struck the pole.
“After that he jumped out of the truck when it started rolling and that’s about it,” he added. I assume his injuries came when he jumped and I am really not sure but I think the truck may have rolled over on him.”
Noe was treated at the scene by Whitley County EMS and was eventually flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by the Air Evac Life Team. According to the information desk at UTC, Noe has since been discharged.
