Effie Longworth Davis, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 91, at her home in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
She was born Effie M. McKeehan on October 19, 1933 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late Wesley Lloyd and Daisy Francis (Rapier) McKeehan.
Effie is preceded in death by her late husband, Arley Longworth Sr.; siblings, Arthur and Emerson McKeehan; and grandson-in-law, Steven L. Mayer.
Effie is survived by her husband, Samuel Davis, of Williamsburg, Kentucky; her son, Arley Longworth Jr. (Robin) of Corbin, Kentucky; granddaughters Michelle Burton (Greg) of Verona, Kentucky and Christine Mayer of Corbin, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Steven Mayer (Megan), Scott Mayer (Mary), Shelby Burton, Michael Burton (Grace), Savannah Mayer, and Samuel Mayer; great-great-grandchildren, Eden Mayer, Maggie Mayer, and Emmett Scott Mayer; and many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Effie was very active in her community both in Rockholds and Williamsburg. She was an active member at Rockholds Baptist Church working especially with the youth and was a key leader in fundraising for the Rockholds Fire Department.
In Williamsburg, she was a long-time member of Main Street Baptist Church where she actively loved serving others and planning times of fellowship. Effie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the funeral hour on Wednesday, October 30, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Donnie Bruce Patrick.
She will be laid to rest in the Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Effie asked to have donations made to the building fund at Main Street Baptist Church, 908 Main Street, Williamsburg, Ky 40769.
