Empty Stocking Fund announces first round of 2024 donations

The Corbin Rotary Club has announced the first round of donations for the 2024 Southeast Kentucky Empty Stocking Fund (SEKESF) Christmas program to benefit children in need throughout the tri-county area.

So far, $10,551 has been donated.

Donors and the amounts given for the week ending Nov. 11 include:

  • Patil Foundation Inc. – $1,000.
  • Walmart Store Number 1259, Corbin – $4,000.
  • Rotary Foundation District 6740 – $1,500.
  • Rotary Club of Corbin, Ky. – $750.
  • Sudhir and Shobhana Patel – $251.
  • Pam Razmus – $100.
  • Paul Jones (in memory of Shirley Jones) – $100.
  • Joe and Lola Caldwell (in memory of Shirley Jones) – $100.
  • David Hoskins – $500.
  • Joan Black – $300.
  • Marr, Miller & Myers PSC – $100.
  • Jerry and Verdie Chadwell – $50.
  • Frances Chadwell – $50.
  • June C. Martin and Laurel Beth Clifton – $300.
  • The Forest Corp. (in memory of Dennis Lynch) – $200.
  • Wallens Towing & Recovery Since 1933 – $250.
  • Dylan Wallen (Wallens Towing Four Generations) – $100.
  • Jerry and Helen Rickett – $200.
  • Corbin Flower Shop – $100.
  • J.R. and Rhoda Woods – $100.
  • Harold and Jan Huddleston – $100.

The Empty Stocking Fund will hand out gifts and other items on Dec. 21 at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Last year, the Empty Stocking Fund spent over $35,000 buying gifts for about 630 children, and with inflation, organizers think they will need about $42,500 this year.
