Firefighters save seven homes from brush fire

Date:

Firefighers from five departments battled a 30-acre brush fire Tuesday to save seven homes.

For several residents of a small trailer park, which is located near the junction of Ky. 204 and Highway 895, a Tuesday afternoon brush fire that got within 100 feet of some of their homes was a little too close for comfort.

“It is scary, especially when you have kids,” noted Diane Whitehead, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly two years.

Whitehead, who has a nephew that is a volunteer firefighter, said she was thankful for the two dozen or so firefighters, who responded Tuesday to battle the blaze.
