George Dewayne Chitwood, age 88, of Newcomb, Tennessee passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born May 4, 1935, in Wooldridge, Tennessee.
Dewayne was preceded in death by son, Jeffrey Alan Chitwood; father, George Chitwood; mother, Rachel (Davenport) Chitwood; brother, Barry Chitwood; sisters, Myrle Shook, Sandra Lawson, Doris Jean Powers, and Rhonda Lee McGhee.
He is survived by his wife, Freda (Loudin) Chitwood of Newcomb; son, Eddie and wife Elizabeth (Finkle) Chitwood of Warrensburg, Missouri; grandchildren, Laura Souder and husband Ethan of Warrensburg, Missouri, Andrew Chitwood and wife Alicia of Littleton, Colorado; great-grandchild, Madeline Souder; brothers, Dahlan Chitwood and wife Adalee of Cincinnati, Ohio, John Earl Chitwood and wife Darlene of Findlay, Ohio; sisters, Irma Mason of Frankfort, Indiana, Janis Lay and husband Jim of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends from 5 until the funeral hour at 7 pm on Monday, September 4, at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Junior Dople officiating. Masonic services will be by the Jellico Lodge # 527 F&AM
Burial will be at 11 am on Tuesday, September 5, in the Douglas Cemetery in the Wooldridge community.
