Gertie Mae Liford, 76, of Hemlock Subdivision, Williamsburg, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at home.
She was born on April 7, 1940 in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Matt and Sophie Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Monroe Liford; daughter, Patty Noe Monhollen; granddaughter, Brittany Fleenor; and brothers, Edward Bennett, Charlie Bennett, and Willie Bennett. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her son, Elbert Douglas (wife Sheila) of Williamsburg; grandson, Eric Michael Douglas (wife Tasha) of Rockholds; granddaughter, Gabrielle Hartz of Williamsburg; three great grandchildren, Olivia Grace Douglas. Jonah Matthew Fleenor, and Kennedy Faith Fleenor; two brothers, Johnny Bennett of Detroit, MI and Lowell Bennett of Williamsburg; sister, Chelsea Mowery (husband Ulyss) of Gausdale: sister-in-law, Faye Bennett of Barbourville; many nieces and nephews; and host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 1, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rob Powers officiating. She was laid to rest in the Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery. Dawson Powers, James Ronnie Young, Junior Peace, Ed Webb, Eugene Collins, and Rick Huddleston served as pallbearers.
