Halloween was extra special this year for several different reasons

Date:

I don’t know about you, but I had the best Halloween ever. From dressing up as Enid Sinclair from Wednesday to karaoke, celebrating my friend’s birthday, and joining the University of the Cumberlands (UC) community band as an alum, this past week was terror-ific in the best way possible.

The day before Halloween, my sister and I went costume shopping. We explored the entire store but instantly got hooked on the Wednesday costumes. Wednesday has become a favorite show for both of us since its latest season came out recently.

I decided to be the character Enid since I recently added peek-a-boo pink to my blonde hair. I didn’t plan to do that specifically for Halloween, but it felt perfect once I saw the costume. I curled my hair, pinned my hair back in pink and purple hair clips, and painted my nails pastel rainbow, like Enid does in the show. The only thing I was missing was a Starbucks cup.

My sister chose to be the character Morticia. She has naturally curly hair, so she straightened it and went with bolder makeup. She did a fantastic job and really went all in.

I think it’s safe to say we looked awesome.

On Halloween night, we headed to Station 41 in London for some karaoke singing.

Station 41 just recently opened in London, and I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the place in the future. Singing is my favorite thing to do, so I thoroughly enjoyed doing that.

Since it was Halloween, we all did more spooky songs.

My best friend, Amber, has a Halloween birthday, so we planned a birthday party for her over the weekend. Happy birthday, Amber! I hope it made you as happy as it made me. I bought her a necklace and Lilo & Stitch slippers since we saw the live-action movie together in theaters when it came out earlier this year.

Lastly, I decided to join a community band hosted at UC, led by band director Dr. Duane Warfield.

I graduated from UC in May of 2024. I didn’t participate in the band program my final year of college so that I could focus my time and energy on student teaching.

It has been around two years since I had to read sheet music. I’ve played the flute since I graduated, but not a whole lot.

I had forgotten how much I loved to play music with other people. It felt as though I had stepped into a time machine. I don’t know the majority of the people in the community band, but they have the same band humor that I’m familiar with.

Practices are held every Monday night, and the performance is scheduled for Dec. 9, unless plans change. I am really excited to prepare for a concert again. My main goal is to have fun and create memories with others.

With all that being said, the end of October has been the highlight of the year for me. I’ve really pushed myself out of my comfort zone to participate in events that interest me. This year’s Halloween has been a huge thumbs up, and I hope your Halloween was the same, reader. I’m just looking forward to a delicious Thanksgiving meal at the end of the month and then my favorite holiday, Christmas!
