Journey to 320 is just beginning

Date:

After running 50 miles on Jan. 8, Zack Horvath’s 320-mile run came to an end.

This was the second time Horvath has attempted a 300+ mile run, but has had to end it prior to completion.

His initial attempt was on Dec. 12. That run ended due to an injury. Horvath’s attempt in Jan. ended due to the “intensified, below-freezing temps with dangerous wind-chills.”

“Although the distance is not 320 being able to run 50-miles in intensified, below-freezing temps with dangerous wind-chills is a big victory, many others would drop out way sooner with conditions like this in fear of  risk of dangerous consequences but I battled through and pushed my limits,” said Horvath in a Facebook post.

Horvath was shown in a video after the run on crutches. He said the frigid temperatures caused his “muscles to become locked” making it “hard to move.”

Horvath said this is just the beginning of his journey 320-miles, and he is planning another at-tempt later this year.  This was Horvath’s second unofficial attempt to break the world record currently held by Karel Sabbe, who ran 319 miles in 75 hours, in October 2020.
