A Lexington man, who allegedly stopped in the fast lane of I-75 to urinate early Monday evening, is behind bars in the Whitley County Detention Center.

About 6:45 p.m., Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified that a mint green Nissan was reportedly involved in a hit and run around the mile point 29 on southbound I-75, according to a release by Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell.

Deputy James Tabor got on I-75 at Exit 15 and spotted a vehicle matching that description near mile point 14, according to the release.

“The car was stopped in the fast lane with the driver’s side door open. A man was standing there and urinating,” Harrell wrote in the release.

Tabor arrested Matthew Donelly, 47, charging him with DUI, wanton endangerment, disorderly conduct and driving without a license.

Donelly is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center in lieu of a $1,250 cash bond.

Sgt. James Fox and Deputy Jonas Saunders assisted in the investigation.
