Questions, but no arrests yet in beating death of Jelico man

So far members of the Whitley County Major Crimes Task force have made no arrests in connection with the beating death of a Jellico man found in a home near the state line Sunday evening.
Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced Carl David Lamb, 45, of Brick Plant Lane, dead at 7:25 p.m. Sunday at a residence on London Avenue belonging to Clarence King.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Detective Chuck Davis, who is the lead-investigating officer in the case, said there are currently no suspects, but that police interviewed five people Tuesday, and police believe Lamb knew his attacker.
Police aren’t releasing a motive for the killing, but did say Lamb’s wallet was missing.
King reportedly came back to his mobile home and adjacent car lot at 621 London Avenue, and found Lamb laying face down in a pool of blood near the back door in the kitchen.
He initially reported the death to Jellico police about 6:42 p.m., and Jellico police contacted the task force.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry at the home, and that Lamb received multiple injuries to his face and head.
State medical examiners autopsied Lamb’s body Monday morning in Frankfort, and determined that the cause of death was a brain injury due to blunt force trauma, Croley said adding that the death is being classified as a homicide.
“A murder weapon has not been found. We don’t know exactly what it was,” Davis noted.
Even though they have no murder weapon, police did transport other physical evidence found at the scene to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab in Frankfort Monday for analysis.
King told police that Lamb was a night watchman at the car lot.
King is not currently a suspect in the killing, Davis said.
Croley, Sheriff Lawrence Hodge, Deputy Brandon Prewitt, Deputy Glenn Bunch, Kentucky State Police Trooper K.Y. Fuson, Jellico Police Department Detective Jeff Partin, and Campbell County Sheriff’s Department Mike Perkins are assisting the task force in the investigation.
