Sheriff’s deputies find active meth lab; Williamsburg man arrested

Meth lab Sheriff's Dept.The following is a news release from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.

On 03-05-2016 around 2:00 am deputy Jonas Saunders of the Whitley County Sheriff Department was on a call on Clifford Canada Road and received an anonymous tip in reference to drug activity and Meth lab. Upon investigation located, 47 year old, Ronald Canada at 311 Clifford Canada road in Williamsburg.

Canada was located at the residence inside a blue camper trailer. Upon making contact with Ronald officer could smell a strong chemical at his residence. Upon further investigation located several narcotics including 20 round green pills believed to be Clonopin and 7 small round white pill believed to be neurotin, and 4 suboxone strips.

Also located bottle with tubing and substance inside believed to be Meth. Located active Meth lab in a black bag under the bed where Ronald Canada was seated. State police was contacted in reference to the Meth lab and DESI responded for proper disposal of the Meth lab. DESI confirmed active Meth lab with 2 HCL generators and several other Meth Precursors.

At the time of officers arrival Canada was attempting to make Meth. Ronald Canada was arrested and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st Degree, 1st offense, possession controlled substance 3rd degree, possession controlled substance 3rd degree, Prescription controlled substance not in original container 1st offense, and possession controlled substance 2nd degree- drug unspecified. Canada was also arrested for 3 Whitley County arrest warrants.

Kentucky State Police DESI assisted at the scene safe cleanup and proper disposal of the meth lab.
