Shirley Davenport, a humble and loving soul, born on August 3, 1951, drifted into the arms of the angels surrounded by her family on November 14, 2024 at the age of 73.
Shirley, a resident of Williamsburg, Kentucky, was a woman of quiet strength and profound love.
Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and service to others.
She was often seen attending the Grace Christian Fellowship Church, instilling peace and harmony in the hearts of those around her.
As the American author, Mark Twain, once said, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Shirley was the embodiment of this quote, touching numerous lives with her generosity and warmth.
Shirley is survived by her loving daughter, Emily Marie Davenport of Williamsburg, KY; and cherished granddaughter, Peyton Marie Davenport of Williamsburg, KY. She also leaves behind her blessed godchildren, Colton, Callie, and Camryn Singleton, who were like her own.
Her brother, Fletcher Spence and his wife Barbara of Knoxville, TN. also mourn her passing. Shirley’s love extended beyond the boundaries of her immediate family. She was the beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and held a special place in the hearts of countless family members and friends. Shirley’s life was a rich tapestry woven with bonds of love and friendship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Cary Spence and Emily (Handly) Spence; and her siblings, Hannah Parten and brother-in-law Jack Parten.
Visitation was Monday, November 18, at the Croley Funeral Home.
A graveside service followed at Youngs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Mullins officiating.
