W’burg man found dead under bridge Monday

No foul play is suspected in the death of a Williamsburg man, who was found dead under a bridge late Monday afternoon.

Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced Joel L. Terrell, 48, dead at 5:38 p.m.

Terrell was found unresponsive about 5:30 p.m. under a Cumberland River bridge off US25W near the Williamsburg Vendor’s Mall and Cumberland Regional Mall.

Croley and Williamsburg Police Officers Greg Rhoades and Dorman Patrick Jr. are in charge of the investigation and continue to investigate the circumstances of Terrell’s death.

Officers assisting at the scene included: Lt. Brandon White, Investigations Lt. Bobby Freeman, and Chief Wayne Bird. Also assisting were members of the Williamsburg Fire Department, Whitley County Emergency Management Director Anthony Christie, and the Whitley County Coroner’s office.
