W’burg Police find crystal meth during Thursday traffic stop

A driver had reason to be nervous during a traffic stop Thursday night as Williamsburg Police reported finding one 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle

According to Williamsburg Police, 49-year-old Michael D. Leach appeared very nervous as Williamsburg Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop around 8:30 on U.S. 25 W. after officers stopped his 2008 Dodge Charger.

According to the Williamsburg Police Department, Leach could not provide a driver’s license and was unable to sit still in the vehicle. This prompted officers to request for consent to search the vehicle, to which Leach agreed.

Upon investigation, officers reported finding a small metal container located under the drivers seat containing approximately the crystal methamphetamine.

Leach was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Leach was lodged in the Whitely County Detention Center.
