Whitley bus driver fired after leaving autistic kid alone on bus for 5 hours

Date:

A Whitley County school bus driver has been fired after an 11-year-old autistic boy was left alone on a school bus on March 15 for over five hours.

“District policy mandates that the bus driver walk to the back of the bus after each run to check for any students remaining on the bus. The bus driver of this bus failed to complete the safety check that morning,” Superintendent Scott Paul said in a release.
