William Alonzo “Lonnie” Stanfill, age 89, of the Black Oak Community of Whitley County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, September 15, 2022, at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born on October 10, 1932, to the late James Siler Stanfill and Laura (Morgan) Stanfill in the Holly Hill Community of McCreary County, KY.
He was an inspector for the G. H. & R. Foundry in Dayton, Ohio. After retirement, he moved back home to Black Oak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hugh Stanfill, Charles Stanfill, Paul Stanfill, and Lloyd Stanfill; five sisters, Lena Thomas, Christine Dillard, Leona Hughes, Pearl Stephens, and Mary Lay; and the mother of his children, Rebecca.
He is survived by one son, Lonnie C. “Dink” Stanfill, and Kelly Parker, of Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Tammy Purnell, of Kettering, Ohio; four grandchildren, Josh Stanfill, Jessica (Purnell) Conger, Shawn Stanfill and Shannon Stanfill; four great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Gage, Mia, and Kinslee; special friends, Jimmy Perkins and Kelly Parker; several nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, September 26, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral will immediately follow on Monday afternoon, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dulling Cemetery located in the Black Oak Community of Whitley County, KY.
Cox & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
