Zail Edward Lawson, 76, of the Meadow Creek Community departed this life on May 3, 2023 in Corbin, KY surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1947 to the late Troy Lawson and Lucy Lawson in Corbin, Kentucky.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Una (Chambers) Lawson; infant son, Adam Lawson; sisters, Geneva Hill, Rovena Smith, Eunicestine Ellis, Kathleen Huff, and Sylvia Partin; brothers, Lonnie Lawson, Keats Lawson, Russell S. Lawson, Merle Lawson, Larry Lynn Lawson, and infant, Donald Lawson.
Zail is surrounded by daughter, Sarah Lawson of Lily, Kentucky; two sons, Matt Lawson and wife Melissa of Corbin, Kentucky and Zail Lawson Jr. of Corbin, Kentucky; one stepson, Terry Morrow of Oneida, Tennessee; special grandson, Aaron Lawson of Knoxville, Tennessee; and one brother, Harry Lawson of the Meadow Creek Community; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was a US Army Combat Vietnam Veteran receiving a Purple Heart in action.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel after 6:00 PM.
Funeral service will be Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Military graveside service will be conducted at the Lawson Cemetery on Flatt Creek following the funeral service.
Croley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
