Whitley School District finance officer fired, arrested for forgery

The former chief financial officer for the Whitley County School District, who was fired on June 16 amid allegations of misappropriations of school funds, is free on bond after being arrested June 21 for forgery involving another organization.

Leigh Burke, 54, of Williamsburg, is free on a $30,000 bond and is facing a July 11 arraignment in Whitley District Court on four counts of first-degree forgery.
