Two gunshot wound victims found in Baptist Health parking lot Fri. night

A death investigation is underway after two bodies were discovered inside a vehicle in the Baptist Health Corbin parking lot late Friday night.

The Corbin Police Department has released the following statement on the situation:
On 8-2-2024 at approximately 11:30 PM, the Corbin Police Department was requested to Baptist Health Hospital to a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon K9 Patrolman Brentley Patrick and Patrolman Dorman Patrick’s arrival, it was determined that a male and female victim sustained gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased by medical staff.
This incident is believed to have occurred inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the hospital. No patrons of the hospital or staff were in immediate danger and this event appears to have been isolated.
The bodies will be sent to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office for an Autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
At this time, the names of the victims will not be released pending a notice to the next of kin. An update will be provided as the investigation allows.
Detective Robbie Hodge is continuing the investigation. Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Baptist Health Security / Medical Staff, and Whitley County Coroner’s Office assisted on scene.
