McKeehan appointed to state education standards board

Date:

Gov. Andy Beshear has appointed a Gray woman to the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board.

Lori McKeehan is a teacher at the Knox County public schools. She represents elementary school teachers as a member of the board and replaces Sarah Weedman, who has resigned. McKeehan will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends June 30, 2026.

The Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) is charged with establishing standards of performance both for preparation programs and practitioners, and accrediting educator preparation providers and approving educator preparation programs at colleges, universities, local school districts, and private contractors.

It also selects assessments for teachers and administrators; overseeing internship programs for new teachers and new principals; administers Kentucky’s National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification; and issues, renews, suspends, and revokes Kentucky certificates for professional school personnel.
