Doris Ann Walters

Date:

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Doris Ann Walters, born on December 14, 1955, in Somerset, Kentucky. Doris, a compassionate, dedicated, and loving soul, left us on September 5, 2024, residing in Winfield, Tennessee.
Her life was a living testament to Emily Dickinson’s words: “If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain.”
Doris was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength for her family and friends. She was a cherished daughter, a devoted mother, an adored sister, and a beloved friend.
Doris leaves behind her daughters, Christina (Chris) Tucker and Amy Walters; son, Alvin (Janelle) Walters; grandchildren, Tara Kidd, Aidan Lafferty, Blake Walters, Griffin Lafferty, Mason Lafferty, and Britton Walters; sister, Kathryn Parker; brother, DJ Huddleston; and longtime friend, Larry Taylor.
Doris was preceded in death by her son, Travis Walters; parents, Virgil and Bonnie Huddleston; sister, Linda Alsip; and brothers, Donald Knight, Bob Huddleston, David Huddleston, and Tommy Huddleston.
Following a career spanning 26 years in the Whitley County School System, Doris retired as a teacher assistant for special needs children. Her dedication and love for her work were a testament to her unwavering compassion and commitment to aiding those in need. Her love extended beyond her fellow humans, as she found joy in taking care of her furry companions, Millie and Charlie. As the author Leo Buscaglia once said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” Doris lived by these words, touching countless lives with her kindness and compassion.
As we remember Doris, we invite you to share your memories of her and upload photos to the memorial page. Let us celebrate her life and the love she shared with us all. Doris’ spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us that love, kindness, and compassion are the greatest gifts we can give to the world.
