Elementary students from all over Whitley County converged at the O. Wayne Rollins Center on the University of the Cumberlands’ campus last Friday for the annual Shoes 4 the Soul event, which is organized by the university’s campus ministry program, Appalachian Ministries. During the event, the elementary students are paired with staff and college student volunteers who perform a foot washing for the children before providing them with clean socks and a new pair of shoes.
