Chief Justice-elect Debra Hembree Lambert speaks to Corbin Rotary Club

Date:

On Oct. 3, Debra Hembree Lambert served as the special guest speaker at the Corbin Rotary Club’s regular weekly meeting at David’s Steakhouse. Lambert was recently voted by the Justices of the Supreme Court of Kentucky as the next Chief Justice of the Commonwealth.

Chief Justice-elect Lambert, who is a native of Bell County, will serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 6, 2025. She will make history as the first woman to serve as chief justice in Kentucky. Prior to this appointment, she has served as a family court judge, a court of appeals judge, and as a Justice on the Kentucky Supreme Court.

During her presentation for the Corbin Rotary Club, Lambert spoke on a special “passion project” of hers, which deals with suicide prevention. Offering an overview of the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Program, she outlined the best methods for recognizing the signs of suicide intention and how a person should intervene appropriately.
