Kentucky Blood Center’s (KBC) Summer of Saving continues into July with a chance for donors to win free Texas Roadhouse for a year just by donating blood at an upcoming blood drive including one in Williamsburg next week.
One lucky donor who gives blood July 1–31 will win 52 $40 Texas Roadhouse gift cards. Donors at this upcoming drive in Williamsburg will be entered into the giveaway. Rules and conditions can be found at kybloodcenter.org/events/summer-of-saving-win-free-texas-roadhouse-for-a-year.
All donors will receive a $15 Walmart gift card, a free appetizer coupon from Texas Roadhouse and a “Stay Peachy” T-shirt from KBC. All thank you items are while supplies last.
Locally, a blood drive will be held during the Whitley County Back to School Ready Fest from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Monday (July 28). The Kentucky Bloodmobile will be at the Whitley County Intermediate School at 2940 North US25W, Williamsburg.
KBC needs local lifesavers to step up during the summer months when donations decrease as the need often increases.
Statistics show that one in four people will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime, and that one in seven people admitted to a hospital receive blood.
Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call (800) 775-2522.
KBC is the largest independent, full-service, nonprofit blood center in Kentucky, and has been saving local lives since 1968. KBC provides services in 90 Kentucky counties and has donor centers in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort, Pikeville, Somerset and the Tri-County area (Corbin).
