Wisconsin man killed in wreck on I-75 Monday identified by KSP

Date:

Monday morning at approximately 10:43 a.m., the Goldbug Volunteer Fire Department (Goldbug Fire Rescue) made an announcement via its Facebook page that a fatal vehicle crash had occurred near the northbound 13-mile marker on I-75 in Whitley County. Kentucky State Police has since identified the victim as 48-year-old Scott Szczesny of Trevor, Wisconsin.

A press release sent out late Monday evening by KSP stated, “On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 9:59 AM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London, was notified by Whitley County 911 of a single-vehicle motorcycle collision on Interstate 75 northbound near the 13-mile marker, just north of the Williamsburg city limits.”

According to the release, KSP Trooper Josh Roaden responded to the scene and found that a 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Szczesny, had left the roadway for unknown reasons and entered into a wooded area. Whitley County EMS arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but Szcezesny was pronounced dead on the scene by the Whitley County Coroner’s officer at 10:55 a.m.

The KSP release states that Szcezesny was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and that speed is believed to by a contributing factor.

Trooper Roaden is continuing the investigation.
