Whitley County Health Department inspections

As part of its duties, the Whitley County Health Department conducts routine public health inspections of various entities, including restaurants, stores, schools, mobile home parks, swimming pools, etc.

Some of the most recent inspections include:

Food Establishment

• Shell Food Mart, 24 Happy Hollow Rd., Williamsburg – retail: 96. Nov. 6 regular inspection. Comments: pre-packaged foods stored under leaking drain in walk-in cooler; gasket in poor condition on chest freezer in back room; walk-in freezer drain is leaking water onto shelves.

• Rainbow Connection, 2413 S. Main St., Williamsburg – 99. Nov. 12 regular inspection. Comments: food manager and food handler certifications are expired.

• Dollar General #227, 1678 S. HWY 25W, Williamsburg – retail: 98. Nov. 13 regular inspection. Comments: no cold water in men’s restroom; pop off valve on hot water tank is bad/not working properly; evidence of roof leaks, ceiling tiles in poor condition and buckets placed to catch water (ceiling tile debris on floor under leaking spots).

• East West, 677 S. HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 99. Nov. 13 regular inspection. Comments: no hot water at sink.

• A-Z Mart, 1304 S. Main St., Corbin – 100. Nov. 17 regular inspection.

• Gordon Hill Market, 1470 Gordon Hill, Corbin – 97. Nov. 17 regular inspection. Comments: boiled peanuts not holding pot temped at 130 degrees (must be 135 degrees or warmer). Follow-up inspection required.

• Gordon Hill Market, 1470 Gordon Hill, Corbin – 100. Nov. 18 follow-up inspection.

• Independence House, 3110 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 98. Nov. 18 regular inspection. Comments: hand drying towel dispenser not working properly; dishes stacked together wet unable to properly airdry.

• Senior Citizens, 208 S. 2nd St., Williamsburg – 99. Nov. 18 regular inspection. Comments: floor tile chipped, broken, and loose in kitchen and dining area.

• Kroger L-719, 1019 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – food service: 97 retail: 99. Nov. 19 regular inspection. Comments: food service – 3 hand wash sinks not properly supplied with hand drying towels; 3-C sanitizer water too warm (must be 65-75 degrees for quat sanitizer, temped at 115 degrees); sanitizer dispenser not working properly; produce 3-C sink drains leaking. Retail – meat cooler wall thermometers not working.

• Little Caesars, 995 US HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 94. Nov. 21 regular inspection. Comments: baking pans not properly washed between each use; sanitizer in wiping cloth buckets tested at 0 ppm; sauces held at room temperature for seven days (if held at room temperature, they must be discarded after four hours; if held at 41 degrees or cooler, they could be held for seven days); employees observed not wearing proper hair coverings; child sleeping on pallet in kitchen area at time of inspection. Follow-up inspection required.

• Little Caesars, 995 US HWY 25W, Williamsburg – 99. Nov. 25 follow-up inspection. Comments: employee observed not wearing proper hair restraints; child sleeping on pellet in kitchen area observed for both inspections.

• Pete’s Eats, 649 S. 10th St., Williamsburg – 90. Nov. 21 regular inspection. Comments: hand wash sinks not properly supplied with drying towels or soap; sanitizer in 3-C sink not at proper level; sanitizer buckets not at proper sanitization level; quesadilla cooler temped at 47 degrees and 50 degrees; dishes stacked together wet unable to properly airdry; dishes put away soiled; ware washing machine not working and is not able to be used; multiple surfaces in the kitchen area soiled with food residue. Follow-up inspection required.

• Pete’s Eats, 649 S. 10th St., Williamsburg – 96. Nov. 25 follow-up inspection. Comments: hand wash sinks not properly supplied with drying towels or soap; dishes stacked together wet unable to properly airdry; dishes put away soiled; ware washing machine not working and is not able to be used; multiple surfaces in the kitchen area soiled with food residue.

• Cinema Social, 1871 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 98. Nov. 24 regular inspection. Comments: not following proper date marking practices. Follow-up inspection required.

• Cinema Social, 1871 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 100. Nov. 26 follow-up inspection.

• Corbin Nursing Home, 270 Bacon Creek Rd., Corbin – 99. Nov. 25 regular inspection. Comments: grout missing in wash room floor; vent and ceiling (around vent) soiled.

• Season’s Restaurant, 313 S. Main St., Corbin – 99. Nov. 25 regular inspection. Comments: ware washing machine not working properly.

• Circle K #4703292, 3782 Cumberland Falls HWY, Corbin – 100. Nov. 26 regular inspection.

• Coffee Spot, 506 Main St., Williamsburg – 99. Dec. 1 regular inspection. Comments: not wearing proper hair restraints.

• Hollywood Video, 225 Main St., Williamsburg – 98. Dec. 1 regular inspection. Comments: no hot water in restroom; floor in restroom falling next to wall (sunken in around toilet) with holes in floor by the wall and around the toilet; gap in the floor by the back door.

• Bojangles, 1858 Cumberland Falls, Corbin – 93. Dec. 2 regular inspection. Comments: hand-wash sink not supplied with drying towels; employees not wearing proper hair restraints; wiping cloths laying on work surfaces soiled; ice scoop soiled; pans stacked together wet unable to properly air-dry; pans and wares stored ready for use soiled with food residue; high touch areas soiled with food residue; equipment soiled with food residue; vents above line heavily soiled; soiled in hard-to-reach areas; water standing on floor from ice machine.
