A Corbin-based company recently won a near $2 million federal contract manufacture trailers for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (R-Somerset) announced today that D&D Disaster Services in Corbin has been awarded a $1,995,000 contract to manufacture low emission travel trailers for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Rogers made the announcement in a news release.
"In these challenging economic times, it is encouraging to see small businesses like D&D Disaster Services shine," said Rogers. This local business will build temporary housing units that are vital to those families who suffer in the wake of a natural disaster. "The contract they were awarded is rightfully deserved as they continue to work hard to supply FEMA with the tools they need to provide shelter in times of adversity."
D & D Disaster Services was founded in Corbin. The contract was won through a competitive bidding process by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The purpose of the contract is to assist with FEMA’s continuing commitment to identify a variety of housing solutions that best meet the complex, disaster-related housing needs of states.
