CSX train derails in Knox County

Officials say anywhere from 15 to 18 cars of a CSX train loaded down with coal have derailed, spilling their load yesterday afternoon.

The incident happend in the Flat Lick community near KY 930. Officials on the scene are saying it may take several days to clean up the mess. The cause of the derailment is currently being blamed on track failure.

The 100 car train was traveling north when it derailed. Knox County Director of Emergency Management Larry Howard said CSX crews are coming from West Virginia to help with the cleanup.
