Motocyclist killed in Keavy wreck

A London man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was thrown from a motorcycle that struck a pickup truck in Keavy Monday night.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, the victim was 22-year-old Shawn H. Couch.

The wreck occurred about 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ky. 312 and Ky. 363 near the Keavy Grocery.

Neither the driver of the pickup truck, identified as 37-year-old Jess Boswell, nor the passenger, 35-year-old Tiffany Boswell, was injured.

Deputies determined that the collision occurred as the pickup truck turned left into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with the right rear of the pickup truck.

Deputy Shannon Jones along with accident reconstructionist Capt. Chuck Jones are continuing the investigation.

Deputy Sgt. Larry Parrott, along with deputies Kyle Gray, Brandon Broughton and Travis Napier assisted at the scene.

Keavy Fire Department and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
