Corbin firefighters had to extricate one person from a car involved in a two-car crash on U.S. 25E near Lynn Camp School Road Friday afternoon.
Corbin Police Officer Steve Meadors said witnesses reported that the Toyota Corolla driven by John Blankenship was attempting to turn left onto U.S. 25E from Lynn Camp School Road.
As Blankenship attempted to cross the southbound lanes of traffic, his vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Impala.
Corbin firefighters used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the top off of Blankenship’s car.
Blankenship, the passenger in his car, identified as 35-year-old Laura Rowe of Corbin, along with the driver and passenger in the Impala, identified as 51-year-old J.H. Smith of Barbourville and 26-year-old Sydney Smith of Barbourville, were all taken to Baptist Health Corbin.
Southbound traffic on U.S. 25E was reduced to one lane as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Corbin Police Officer Steve Meadors said a check of Blankenship’s license status indicated he was driving on a suspended license.
West Knox firefighters, Knox County EMS and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County also responded to the scene.
