Glenda Joyce Schiesz, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all, entered the arms of her loving Savior on February 25, 2017 at Baptist Health Lexington at the age of 71.

She was a daughter of the late Otis and Sara Stapp Joiner born on February 13, 1946 in Hopkinsville.

Glenda was a retired Kentucky licensed funeral director and worked part-time in the cafeteria at Corbin Middle School and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, HOPE Riders Motorcycle Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed playing the piano, tending flowers, serving her church and visiting the nursing home.

Survivors include her loving husband, Byron L. Schiesz of Corbin; two children, Byron L. Schiesz II and wife, Mary Lee, of Bristol, TN and Allison E. Schiesz Nelson and husband, Ronnie, of Corbin; two sisters, Brenda Chambers and husband, Gayle, and Sara Beth Morris and husband, Randy, all of Hopkinsville; two grandchildren, Mary Beth Nelson and Beckham A. Schiesz; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service was conducted at the Immanuel Baptist Church Friday, March 3 with Dr. Don Mathis and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating.

She was laid to rest in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Casket bearers were Steve Abner, Herman “Moo” McDaniel, Chris McQueen, Jeremy White, Darrell Horn and Roy Taylor.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 1500 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502 in her memory.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
