Johnny Reeves, 86, of Corbin passed away on Saturday April 1, 2017 at Baptist Health in Corbin.

Born at Black Star, he was a son of the late John and Susie Pridemore Reeves. His brothers, James Ray Reeves, Rev. Roy Reeves, and Herbert Reeves and a sister Naomia Clarkson also preceded him in death.

Following his time in the U.S. Air Force 1951-1955 partly spent in Japan, Johnny attended Cumberland College. He graduated from the University of Kentucky where he studied radio broadcasting. Johnny was hired at WCTT radio in 1960 as an advertising salesman and DJ. In 2010, he was honored with a reception and open house in celebration of his 50 years of dedicated service to WCTT/WKDP by Eubanks Broadcasting.

Johnny was raised in the Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and spending time with his friends.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Reeves; a daughter, Emma Ruth Reeves; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Mahan; grandson, Dylan Cade Mahan; brother, Hershal Reeves; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 12 noon Thursday until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.

Burial will be in the Broyles Cemetery with military graveside honors by American Legion Post 88.
