Ernest “LA” Carpenter, 84, of the Harps Creek Community, Siler, departed this life on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was born on June 28, 1932 in Williamsburg, to the late George Carpenter and Nora Siler Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Carpenter; two grandchildren, Paul Spinogal and Darren Owens; and a host of brothers and sisters.

He is survived two children, Shelby Carpenter of Cincinnati, Ohio and Gail Owens and her husband Terry of Williamsburg; four grandchildren, Jason Carpenter, Misty Lynn Carpenter, James Donnie Doan and Brittney Silcox; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Partin officiating.

Following the service he will be laid to rest the Indian Gap Cemetery.
