W’burg man arrested on sex abuse charge

Date:

Peter Gerlaugh is charged with first-degree sexual abuse.

A Wednesday morning preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Williamsburg man, who is facing a sex abuse charge.

Peter Jason Gerlaugh, 39, is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center in lieu of a $75,000 cash bond.

Kentucky State Police arrested Gerlaugh on June 27 on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse.

KSP Trooper Samuel Peace alleged in the arrest warrant that on several occasions between June 7 and June 13, Gerlaugh allegedly sexually abused the victim, who is under the age of 12 years old.

Gerlaugh pleaded not guilty to the charge during his arraignment Thursday and is being represented by the public advocate’s office.
