Corbin Library hosting teen Lego event

Date:

Legos know no age limit and the Corbin Public Library is opening its collection to teens.

At 5 p.m. Monday, the library will host its inaugural Teen Lego Night.

Library officials said unlike the regular Lego club which permits children to build what they want, the teens (grades 6-12) will be challenged to build some type of object.

“We want to make it a competition type thing,” said Sasha Ledger, the library’s circulation manager, adding a prize would be presented to the winner.

Ledger said the Teen Lego Club is something that other libraries and organizations have done and promoted on their Pinterest social media sites.

In addition, there have been several requests from area teens to be allowed to play with the library’s Legos.

The Legos, which were purchased by the Friends of the Library, feature a variety of colors including: Pink, purple, yellow, red, blue, black and white.

In addition, there are a number of different bases on which buildings may be attached, and other accessories, including windows, doors and wheels.

The library hosts two Lego Builders Club events each month for younger children.

Pre-registration for Monday’s event is required.

For more information, or to register, contact the library at 528-6366.
